Ways to Make Money Online

Making money online is not as difficult as many people seem to believe. There are almost as many ways to make money online as there are offline. You can choose something as simple as posting articles with affiliate links to something as complex as running a full-fledged social network with millions of visitors!

Choosing a way to make money is usually tricky. A lot of people get stuck and end up making very little money because they can’t decide on one particular method and stick to it long enough to make good cash.

In this report, I’m going to talk about a few of the different ways to make money online. Hopefully, you will be able to use this information to choose the best possible moneymaking method for you and your own business style.

Remember, you must choose something that suits you. You need something you can stick to for the long haul, which means you can’t choose something you will find too difficult or boring!

So let’s get started.

Affiliate Marketing

Perhaps the easiest way to get started making money online is by promoting other people’s products. There are many different ways to do this, including email marketing, review sites, article marketing, blogging, video marketing, and more.

There is a very low barrier to entry for affiliate marketing. You don’t need any special knowledge, because most of the content you create will be relatively simple. You typically want people to pay for the best information.

You don’t need a big upfront investment. You can start with very little money, or even no money if you need to. You can start with just a single domain name and a cheap hosting account, or you can market exclusively through free hosting if you have no money at all to invest.

There are many different types of product you can promote as an affiliate, including:

  • Digital information products
  • Digital software, music, and videos
  • Physical products like clothing, jewelry, toys, and appliances
  • Services like banking, insurance, design, and consulting

Almost anything you can imagine has an affiliate program available. You can promote digital eBooks that help people solve problems, for example. Or you can promote hot new items through Amazon, or antiques through eBay. Whatever you want to promote, there is almost surely an affiliate program available for it.

I highly recommend using affiliate marketing as a way to get into other moneymaking methods. It’s a great way to learn the basics of making money online without investing a lot of money. If you don’t have much experience on the internet, it’s the perfect way to get your feet wet.

AdSense

Google AdSense is a type of affiliate marketing, but you’re paid per click rather than for sales. If you want to get started with the least possible hassle, you might consider using AdSense instead of affiliate programs. You’ll make less in the beginning, but you can accomplish more overall.

Information Marketing

Information marketing is the business of selling information. This information can come in many formats, but the most common formats are in the forms of downloadable eBooks and videos.

Information marketing can be extremely profitable. In fact, it is often much more profitable than marketing standard physical products. With downloadable products, you don’t have most of the same overhead costs as you would with physical products. There’s no raw materials to buy, no warehouse to keep up, and generally few or no employees to pay.

ClickBank.com is the most common place for selling digital products. They have thousands of active affiliates who can promote your products for a commission, and ClickBank will pay the affiliates and handle billing for you.

You can outsource product creation if you don’t want to do it yourself. For as little as $500, you can outsource the creation of your product, design, and sales letter, and you’re in business with your own information product that others can promote for you.

It’s a great idea to focus on desperate niches, where people have problems, they are extremely desperate to solve. If someone has a major problem like acne or headaches, they will gladly pay to find out how to get rid of it.

You can also focus on passionate niches. When people are passionate about a particular topic, they will often spend a lot of money to find out more about it. Sports and hobbies are usually passionate niches, for example.

The great thing about information marketing is that you can pay very high commissions to attract affiliates, and you can still make a great profit. Since you have little to no production costs, you can easily pay 50% commission or more and still make a lot of profit.

You can even use your information products as “loss leaders”, paying most of the income to affiliates and building an email list of buyers that you can use to market other products too. This is a fantastic way to build an email list quickly without spending a lot of money upfront.

Freelancing

Another very simple way to make money online is by freelancing. If you have good skills in design, programming, or writing, you can make very good money selling your services.

Even if you don’t have a lot of talent in these areas, you can potentially hire other people to do the work, and you can just manage your workforce. This is a great way to make a lot of money without doing much work yourself.

Writing is probably the easiest way to get into freelancing. If you can write an email that people can understand, you can make money writing. You don’t need perfect grammar, and you can use Microsoft Word’s built-in spell checker to find most errors, even if you don’t have the best skills.

You can find freelance work on freelance sites like:

And on forums such as:

When you post on forums, be sure to post in the correct area. You don’t want to hurt your reputation by ending up banned due to breaking the rules of the forum!

Take a look at some of the other people who are posting to find out what to charge for your work. Start out by pricing your work on the lower end of the spectrum to build a reputation, and then slowly raise your prices as the demand for your work exceeds the time you have.

It shouldn’t take long to build a good reputation as long as you work hard, always meet deadlines, and do a good job. If you keep your customers happy, many will refer more business to you from people they know. For this reason, it’s very important to bend over backwards to please each and every client.

Remember not to underprice your services. This can lead to burnout and cause a lot of issues down the road.

Website Flipping

Many people want to own their own websites, but they don’t have the time or ability to create them on their own. If you’re good at creating websites (or if you are good at spotting and buying gems at cheap prices), you can easily make great money providing sites to other people.

The main marketplace for selling websites is:

You’ll have to pay a fee to list a site for sale, as well as a 5% success fee. The current upfront fee to list a site is $19, which is fairly expensive, so you need to be sure your site will sell for enough above this to make a profit. You can pay the success fee yourself, pass the fee to the buyer, or split it 50/50 with the buyer. I usually have the buyer pay all of it, because the upfront success fee and the cost of the domain name already cuts into profits severely.

Take a look around Flippa to see what is currently selling and create similar sites. This will help you give potential buyers exactly what they are looking for.

eBay

Making money with eBay is one of the oldest ways to make money online. You can make great money selling all types of items here. You can make and sell crafts or other homemade goods, buy items at local garage sales and flea markets for resale, or buy new products wholesale for selling on eBay.

Many people these days complain about the fees associated with selling on eBay, but you can still make a very good profit if you are careful about what you sell.

The great thing about eBay is that they have millions of users who are available to buy from you. If you are selling something people want at a fair price, you will easily make money.

You may need to spend some time doing research to find out exactly what people are looking for, and to find a product that allows you to sell consistently and make a profit.

Try using methods that other people might not think of. Instead of buying brand new shoes wholesale, try buying closeout merchandise that might be slightly older. For example, buy last year’s shoe models that stores have on clearance and sell them at a discount. You may even be able to make a deal with certain stores to take older merchandise off their hands at below wholesale.

When you’re just getting started, you can get a lot of great merchandise at garage sales, on Craigslist, and at Goodwill and other thrift stores. You can also place ads in your local newspaper offering to haul away items for people for free. This can get your items to sell for free.

If you don’t have the money to invest to buy merchandise, consider starting a consignment business. You can offer to sell items for people on eBay in exchange for a small percentage of the profits. This works best for larger ticket items. It’s too much work to spend all that time on items that will only bring you a few cents in commission.

One final way to get merchandise to sell is to visit garage sales right at the end of the day. By this time, most people have a bunch of extra stuff they haven’t sold and just want to get rid of. You can come by and offer them a few bucks for everything they have left. This could get you some great stuff to resell at a very small price, allowing you to make a great profit, and you can get a lot of items all in one place!
